The Foundation plays a vital role in enhancing the elementary school experience by supporting numerous impactful events. Initiatives such as Teacher Appreciation Week and Career Day foster a positive, engaging learning environment and strengthen the community’s connection to the school, ultimately contributing to a richer, more supportive educational experience for all.
Teacher Appreciation Week
An Attitude of Gratitude, one of the key Sandburg values. This week is a time to say thank you to our teachers and staff for all they do for our students. It is also an important learning experience for the kids seeing everyone take time and money to say thank you. Teacher Appreciation Week celebrates the hard work and dedication of our educators, reinforcing their importance and boosting morale.
Career Day
This event for our upper grades gives kids a little insight into the types of jobs adults do. Accountants, doctors, auto mechanics, scientists, active duty military, SWAT team members and many others. Career Day exposes students to a variety of professions, sparking curiosity and broadening their future aspirations.
Biztown
A capstone event for our 5th graders, Biztown allows these students to take on various roles in an economy and see how these roles interact.
Yearbook
The purpose of the Sandburg Yearbook Committee is to create a record of each school year for students, faculty, and parents. The Yearbook Committee also shares photos and video of events throughout the year. The yearbook committee also gives parents [and kids] the opportunity to express their creativity by photo-documenting, editing, and producing a yearbook. We are extremely protective of our kid’s privacy and work to ensure that photos are only shared with parents.
Campus Beautification
The Foundation's support for campus beautification is essential for creating a welcoming and inspiring learning environment. A well-maintained and visually appealing school campus not only enhances the overall atmosphere but also boosts students' pride in their school. By investing in campus beautification, we help foster a positive, stimulating environment where students can thrive academically and socially.
Traffic Circle
The Foundation’s support for the traffic circle is crucial for ensuring a safe and efficient drop-off and pick-up area for students and families. By investing in this key area, we enhance traffic flow, reduce congestion, and improve overall safety for children navigating the school grounds.
